Fleck - Instrumentality, Bungbilly Moosic |
| By: MuzikMan, Associate Writer, MusicDish - 2001-10-10 - Genre: Electronic - Instrumental |
| If you looked real quick at the number of tracks on this CD without noticing the times you were probably wondering how thirty-nine tracks fit? Well, this is music made for movies, television, and theater; they are short sprites or ditties of the electronic persuasion. Louie Fleck created all of this music over the last ten years (hence the large number of tracks) in his home studio with a computer, sampler, and several MIDI keyboard devices. This is good mood music, but you had better be in an upbeat perky mood, if you want to meditate this will not cut it. Some of the weird little sounds that are thrown in the mix may catch you off guard and give you a good chuckle as well. It is a rare occasion that I am given an opportunity to hear music like this. I did appreciate it and can understand how it would fit into movies and TV shows just perfectly. I honestly could value the time, effort, and talent that can go into this kind of work. I can understand how Fleck must enjoy the process, it certainly sounds like he does. Any creative talent in the studio requires time, patience, and a lot of TLC. You tell can Mr. Fleck put all the resources that he has at his disposal into his creations. |

Fleck: Instrumentality |
| By E.J. Winner - Wednesday, 29-Sep-1999 |
| Instrumentaility is a self-produced sampler CD from composer/musician Louie Fleck. The liner notes say that Fleck became obssessed with Reggae after listening to Bunny Wailer's Rock'nGroove, and while the album is not straight reggae, it's accents are clearly reggae-influenced. The album is a mixed bag, genre-wise - from the straight pop to the post-trance, Fleck demonstrates a command of various genres and mixing styles. The album is non-stop, so be prepared to have your attention-span challenged in a number of ways - sometimes you want more, other times less, but it keeps moving along at its own pace. The production, by the way, is very good, and the sound bright and boomy, the general mood sprightly, upbeat - doesn't let you linger in shadowy mood. An album filled with interesting ideas and promise of more in future. |
